Package: debian-installer
Severity: wishlist

i was attempting to install etch, but the installer failed about halfway
through extracting packages. i tried the install twice, and the
installer failed at the same point. i finally concluded that the burn
was bad. so i reburned the etch d-i disc, and the install went fine.
it would be very useful to have a checkmedia boot option to find out if
the disc is ok before attempting the install; especially since novice
users could interperet a failure like this as a failure of the installer
rather than the hardware.

thank you for your consideration.

There already is an option to check the CD. You need to go to the main
menu (using <Go Back>) and select the option to check the consistency of
the CD.

Note that it currently does not work because of #371856, but a fix for
that will be uploaded after the Beta 3 release.

Closing your report as the feature is already there.

Cheers,
FJP
