They are > clearly different, but why? There are three actually, you missed sid_d-i to which daily is currently linked. The difference has to do with testing before releases and sometimes specific testing. When preparing a release we switch the "daily" symlink around. Normally you should just use what is linked from the project page, i.e. the "daily" images. Some further info is here: http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/builds
