Bug#378453: marked as done (Install base system fails with package install error.)

The installer got through the base install until the <x> package where
it failed and the debug console had the following message:

On the second try, I used a different mirror and the problem still existed.

You are correct. The version of initramfs-tools that has migrated to 
testing is incompatible with the beta 2 installer images. As the netinst 
and full CDs have an older version of initramfs-tools, these images still

As Beta 2 images will be broken anyway next week because of preparations 
for the Beta 3 release, we will not be fixing this issue. Therefore
