That would mean an extra question for all users.
We, d-i team, will likely get reqeust to hide the default of HTTP.


I can surpress my urgue to mark this bugrepor as 'wontfix'.



Apropos "using a local FTP archive":
If it was worth to setup thas server,
it is surely worth to provide preseed file.
