Is Toshiba contacted about this "won't detect Ether Card" ?
Can you return the laptop and get refund for buying a laptop
that _does have_ GNU/Linux support ?

Or are we talking about a PCMCIA card?

I think there is a network controller detected.

Please tell more about the hardware you are using.
And why you conclude that the Ethernet Card is not detected.
