That is a bad idea.  You should do: echo options libata atapi_enabled=1 /etc/modprobe.d/libata

If you create /etc/modprobe.conf then you disable everything debian puts
in /etc/modprobe.d/ which is not what you want.

Someone with access should fix that very bad wiki entry.

I believe sometime soon that option is going to become the default on
kernels, but I don't believe it has happened yet.
