Test bed is a Dual Pentium-II 450 on ASUS P2B-DS motherboard with 384 megs of RAM, and *7* SCSI drives (one boot, six for software RAID 5) and CD-ROM on /dev/hdb. First stage of install (llinux26/linux24) goes fine, but lacks SMP support. Tried expert26/expert24 to gain SMP support.

Just apt-get install kernel-image-2.6.8-686-smp
The installer doesn't have an smp kernel, but debian does.
