Comments/Problems:

After booting on the netinst cd, it failed to detect the Hard Drive. To get it to work, I had to load these modules: ata_piix libata sd_mod

Then the base system installed without incident. After a reboot, the CD drive was not detected. I have not yet gotten it to be detected at all. What I did was (before reboot):
Alt-F2 + Enter to activate second console:

mkdir /target/mirror
cd /cdrom
cp -a dists/ pool/ /target/mirror
(after reboot)
select /mirror as file: element for apt config

The Intel Wireless 3945 card is still not working, but my there are no Linux drivers for it yet from http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/

Steve pointed me on IRC that that ata_piix is a 2.6 only module, so
this change should be made only in pci26.lst

Anyway, hardware detection no more uses discover1 with kernel 2.6 so
my comments are irrelevant here and there's nothing much we can do for
beta1 installs anymore

Closing the bug report as we should really focus on HW detection for
recent D-I images and there's an install report for the very same
machine and a daily build.
