Comments/Problems:

first tried the 3.1 installer. didn't pick up the network, its a new MB using pci express.
i then tried the beta installer but this won't detect and mount the cdrom. cd drive is a dvd read cdrw.
the drive was picked up under 3.1 - not under the etch beta 1.

obviously have no further info as i can't install at this point.
