Bug#349569:

Quoting Ken Yee (kenkyee@excite.com):

Sounds like an Etch beta1 but please tell exactly which image you were
using.

I suggest you try images from
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer in the "daily builds" section.

This is crucial for us.

You can get it from the above mentioned image: boot the installer up
to the network card detection, then switch to VT2 and then run:

"(lspci ; lspci -n)|sort"

from there and paste us the parts relevant to your network card.

> The newest nVidia C51 based motherboards with the 6150/430 chip need the latest Forcedeth and ALSA drivers from unstable to get their networking and sound working. Without networking, I couldn't get to the network to download updates to Debian Testing. Debian Testing also doesn't sense USB ethernet devices; I tried using a Netgear FA120 USB->Ethernet adapter to work around the Forcedeth install issue, but it wasn't found by Debian's installer. The kernel included with Debian Testing also doesn't see my Fusion5HDTV card; the 2.6.15 kernel is needed to support it, but I couldn't get Debian Testing installed to update the kernel :-P

Anyway, if the card needs ALSA drivers to work, I'm unsure about how
it shoul dbe handled...but in any case the lspci output will be
helpful.

Please also post us the "lsmod" output from your Kanotix install.

Of course, do all this only if the daily build image doesn't detect
your card. If it does, then you're fine.
