Bug#312400: Boot fails after install
Package: debian-installer
Version: most recent (downloaded 6 June 2005)
I just downloaded the latest Sarge netinst iso and installed it on an HP
Proliant DL140. I did two seperate installs, one "expert" and one
"expert26". I tried kernel image 2.4 and 2.6. The install was onto a
standard IDE drive and I chose to use the XFS filesystem. Because of
the bug in the version of grub on the install CD I instead installed
lilo. Everything during the installation seemed to go fine but when I
rebooted the machine it failed at:
Loading Linux..
it would just freeze there. I looked at /etc/fstab and /etc/lilo.conf
and everything looked kosher. Not sure what is going on here.
Right after this I used the same CD performed an identical install onto
a Proliant DL380 with no problems whatsoever. I have also installed
this way on to many other systems and not had any problems.
