Hmmm, hav eyou tried disabling PCMCIA support. IIRC this is described
in the installation manual.
Which installer version did you try. I assume this is probably the
sarge installer...
Could you try the development version "Etch beta1" which you will find
from http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer ;?
