I just archived the script in the d-i repository:
d-i/trunk/scripts/g-i

I also added README.strip_glyphs which tries to document a bit how to use
it; as an example I added the calls needed to fix the problem with
Arabic/Persian glyphs.
Let me know if something is not clear.
