Well unfortunately most USB ADSL modems are using a proprietary
interface and are very unlikely to get linux support. On the other hand
the speedtouch does seem to be worked on by someone, so perhaps at some
point it will have a proper driver. Of course we will also need someone
to decide to actually work on ppp/pppoe support in the installer too,
which so far hasn't attracted very much interest even among people who
have pppoe on ethernet based adsl modems. Most other usb modems
probably won't work unless they happen to just inplement the usb
ethernet drive interface, in which case they should be the same to the
system as any usb network adapter connected to an ethernet adsl modem.
At least some cable modems have gone that way, although far from all.
