Surprinsingly, it seems that the netinst sid_d-i CD image tries to gather files from a mirror after the network configuration step. So, when trying it on a non connected machine, it fails miserably, of course. PS: it also has the framebuffer crash problem which gives a very ugly display...even with debian-installer/framebuffer=false --
