My raid install of sarge used grub. Why ever would you want it to use
lilo?
No clue about XFS. I stopped using it after all the bugs it had in 2.6
and leaking tons of memory.

Neither LVM nor raid (although maybe /boot on LVM would be a problem)
should have a problem with grub.
Or does grub behave that differently on amd64 that it can't support md
raid1 like it does on i386?
