Comments/Problems:

Detect CD: works only if the ata_piix driver is removed from the module
selection list. Otherwise, "No Common CD drive found" error.
I removed ata_piix and reinserted it after cd-drive detection via
           modprobe.

kernel 2.6.8: manually updated to 2.6.12 as described in Bug#323440.
However, no net, thus imported linux-image-2.6.12 from cd.
Remounted installation cd properly after importing the
              image.

rebooting: fails as described above. However, I can boot into recovery
mode, which was used to collect information.

Tried netinstall_cd r31.0a first. But this did not detect ata_piix and
failed to find any partitionable media even on manual insertion of
ata_piix.

Though I needed to choose 'expert' I am not. Any help is appreciated.

cheers, dirk

Thanks for that.

It's a pity that problem still exists in 2.6.12. However, basically it is
a kernel problem and not an installer issue. Hopefully it will be fixed
in a future kernel version.

As this is a known issue and the install was otherwise correct, I'm
closing the installation report.

Cheers,
FJP
