D-I meetings schedule proposal
During the last D-I meeting, the discussion about a regular schedule
for meetings didn't completely finish.
The following was agreed by all participants:
-monthly meeting
-short duration: 60 minutes (90 minutes if really needed. Never more)
-alternate between week-ends and week days
-Wednesday alternating with Saturday
The meeting *time* wasn't really agreed, which is obvious, given the
various timezones we all live in and our different schedules.
The D-I team members time zones are roughly:
-0700:-0400 for US members
+0100:+0300 for European members
+0900:+1000 for Japan/Australia
"Some" agreement emerged for:
-Saturday at 16:00 UTC (some people proposed this later but it seems
to interfere too much with Saturday evening social life for
Europeans). Really difficult for people in Australia/Japan as they
have to wake up *very* early on Sundays....or just don't go to bed.
-Wednesday at 20:00 UTC. Not that convenient for US developers if they
can't manage to waste 1 hour paid work once every two months
Obviously convenient for Europeans, but again not very good for
Japan/Australia
The requirement is currently finding something that our two release
managers (Frans and Joey) find convenient. Something that *I* find
convenient would help as well if I have to manage further meetings.
Please comment....however, please avoid proposing complicated
schemes. Experience shows that regular schedules are a key of
successful team meetings.
Something we can be sure of: we can't make everyone happy.
According to this, the next D-I meeting would be on Wednesday Oct 19th
at 20:00UTC
