Comments/Problems:
The system has two IDE drives and a DVD-RW not being used for the
installation. It also has Silicon Image SATALink PCI card with two 200
GB Seagate drives, the first of which is being used for the
installation. The installation hangs before partitioning at "Scanning
disks... 38%". Some of the interesting processes running are:
udpkg --configure --force-configure partman
/bin/sh /var/lib/dpkg/info/partman.postinst configure
/bin/sh /bin/partman
/bin/sh /lib/partman/init.d/30parted
parted_server
parted_devices

I think perhaps parted is hanging.

Cheers,
Shaun

Hello, sorry to get back to you so late.

The floppies use a 2.4 kernel, which is not ideal for SATA. As you
reported success with 2.6 kernel in #322240, I'm closing this report.

Cheers,
FJP
