Well sw raid works fine, and it what is supported on linux with plain
ide/sata controllers, and it's the fastest raid on linux.

The sata drivers are very stable. I certainly wouldn't want to use the
emulation mode since that I have had trouble with (like on some Dell
machines where they won't let you turn off emulation).
