the first time it's received: the gtk frontend should be started when
the main-menu is going to be displayed
I'm sure that you are aware that if the installer is started "normally"
the user will not see the main menu at all...
The main menu is "there", it is used to determine the sequence of
questions after all, but it is not displayed unless the user uses <go
back> or if there is an error.
The gtk frontend needs to be able to deal with that.
