I tried to configure X using Xconfig86 and dpkg..
no luck. I am a SuSE user and would like to try
debian flavor. The command line works fine but I
can't run the X. Could you please help

I'm afraid this is not an issue within Debian Installer. Therefore closing=
=20
your report.
Your best option is to ask for help on a debian-user list.
I suggest you provide some information in your mail about your hardware=20
(at least the make and model of your videocard...
