Hi,

I'm also trying to install to a brand new Dell 9100 and got the same
problem. This can be due to a module missing in initrd. I solved this by
rebooting with the installer and going through the install until
partionning where I've choosen not to format my partition so it is
mounted in /target with all data previously installed. Then go to
console #2 and:
# chroot /target
# mount -t proc proc /proc
# aptitude
install from unstable new "whiptail" and the lastest "kernel-image" (was
2.6.11 for me) go back to console #1 and give up installation and reboot

Hope it helps

Regards
