Is "preseeding the root password with a MD5 hash" an interesting feature for d-i?

In #275343 for shadow, the bug submitter suggests that root password
should be preseedable with a MD5 hash instead of clear text.

(actually, he was concerned by the root password not being preseedable
at all, but we dealt with that later)

This seems an interesting option to me and I intend to have the shadow
team working on it.

Do my fellow d-i team members share this opinion and think it's worth
working on this?
