Date: May 6st
Method: Network install

Machine: Dell PowerEdge SC 1420

possible

Comments/Problems:

Changed various settings on the scsi controller, bios enabled/disabled
raid enabled disabled etc,
all without success. Tried an install with a 2.6 kernel, no success.
Manually added the needed
modules (aic7xxx.0 and aacraid.o and tried aic79XXX aswell) without any
success (with kernel 2.4 and 2.6)

Felt quitte desparated ;-) so i've installed the machine with the iso from
the open-sourcelab
which comes with the Red Hat driver for this controller. This worked out
fine but this is not
the way to go since this iso comes with a static kernel. This iso can be
found on:
http://wiki.osuosl.org/display/LNX/Debian+on+Dell+Servers but ... it's
woody based.

Advantage of the installation is that i can provide you with the out put
of lspci and lspci -n
see below.

I'm gonna try to do some work with the sources form the adaptec site and
udeb, but maybe there
are some folks over here who had this problem before ... so if so i'll be
very gratefull.

output lspci and lspci -n
