While performing "base system" installation the installer tries to perform an installation of "kernel-image" and an error occurs (it's about mkinitrd: it's quite angry because my device is not a real block device). I know that "the right way" is to make deb of an uml kernel, but without a kernel installation it could be easier and quicker for anyone to install sarge on uml.
