Hello Wiktor, Sorry for not keeping in touch, but it's been very busy for me with a lot of work on the installation manual... I have read all your mails and they definitely have helped narrow downthe problem. As you can see from the previous mail I send to Vincent (with you in CC), there has been progress, mainly because we now properly have the USB modules on the installation CDs.Could you try the image available from [1] and try the workaround I explained in that other mail? Could you file a new installation report after that? The unofficial version for this CD is "pre-RC3". [1] http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimage-testing/sarge_d-i/sparc/current/ Thanks in advance, Frans
Oh, yes! I tested it today and it works like a charm! I used the image: http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimage-testing/sarge_d-i/sparc/20050321/sarge-sparc-businesscard.iso
Very briefly - the USB keyboard works correctly after doing only: [prom] boot cdrom <ret> [silo] boot: <ret>Traditionally the default proposition after selecting the language on the main screen is to use sun-style keyboard, but finally I can skip it and choose the USB variant.
This is the way it should work...Great, great, great thanks to Frans, Vincent and all other sparc folks who helped to resolve this issue!
I will file a new full installation report shortly, as you kindly asked. Cheers, Wiktor PS.Sorry for flooding the mailing list, but this is such a great news, that I just couldn't sit in place :-)))))
