Comments/Problems:

- A segfault occurred during grub-install (bugs 293722/293878) and went
unnoticed (bug 295504), causing the initial reboot to fail. I booted
the installed system with noexec=off and ran "grub-install /dev/sda" to
fix it.

- I wanted to configure a RAID-1 across two disks, but needed to start
it in degraded mode because I hadn't yet received the second drive. I
entered "2" as the number of active disks. The active-device-selection
screen claimed "You must select exactly 2 partitions", but this message
was misleading. I selected one partition, and the installer created the
RAID in degraded mode as expected.

- The installer correctly determined the IDE driver for my system
(via82cxxx), but when the installed system booted it was loading a
generic IDE driver first, preventing via82cxxx from claiming the
interface. When I installed a DVD burner, this caused it to operate in
PIO instead of DMA mode (and hdparm was unable to activate DMA),
resulting in slow burning and an unreadable disc. I fixed this by adding
"via82cxxx" to the top of /etc/modules. I've included the dmesg logs
from before and after the fix:
