The debian installer did not automatically dectect my Promise TX4 SATA 
controller, although the card is supported by the libata drivers in both 
the 2.4 and 2.6 kernels for testing.

Manually modprobing the sata_promise module prior to partitioning gets 
the card supported and the attached drives recognized.
