Comments/Problems:

The uname -a output above isn't accurate, I've installed 2.4.25 from
unstable right away to get XFS support. I really wish sarge installer (and
kernel) had XFS :)

As for the partition mounting issue: there are actually two drives in the
system, to use RAID-1. The second drive had been used a few hours before
in a test installation, and used to have a swap partition as hda1 (now
hdc1), but that was destroyed and differently sized using the partitioner.
However d-i still detected it as a swap partition (even if the partition
type was now "linux" instead of "linux swap" and insisted on turning it on
while hadn't marked it for swap.
It wasn't until I told d-i to turn it into a non-mounted ext3 partition
that it succeeded.

'nother note: I had little time for installation so I went over it
quickly, but I couldn't immediately find a way to create MD devices (and
use them) in d-i. There should be one. (I know how to install into a swap
partition and migrate to RAID, but that doesn't make it less of a kludge.
If there is MD support in d-i, it should be easier to found.)

Regards,

Filip
