Comments/Problems:

The SATA adapter requires the ata_piix module from the 2.4.28 kernel to work. It will not find the hard drives without it.
Upgrade to the 2.4.28 kernel is recommended since this is the card all the new lower end Dell PowerEdge servers will be using.
Failing that, patched support to the existing kernel for this module and related PCI IDs is recommended.

RC2 _does_ have SATA ata_piix support in both the 2.4.27 kernels and in
the 2.6.8 kernel.
SATA support in the kernel is far from perfect and getting things working
requires some effort from you.
To get your drives recognized, you may need to change your BIOS settings
or use alternative connectors on your mainboard, or maybe manually
modprobe the driver from VT2.

Please search our list archives (debian-boot) and our Bug Tracking System
for SATA. You should get loads of hits.

As the issue you report is _not_ an issue, I'm closing this installation
report.

Cheers,
FJP
