I've created a new image set that contains all available usb modules on
the initrd. This will only work for sparc64; sparc32 has no additional
usb modules. http://kitenet.net/~joey/tmp/sunblade/2/ Give it a try and
let us know.

It appears there was a problem with that image.
Please try http://kitenet.net/~joey/tmp/sunblade/3/ instead.

I tried the mini.iso, md5 sum a6f66ae6e0c61f1ed029e89d584e4869.
Didn't have much luck I'm afraid. Here is what I was able to transcribe
by hand.

ok boot cdrom
SILO 1.4.8
boot: <ret>
...
Freeing initrd memory: 2139k freed
Kernel panic: VFS unable to mount root fs on 00:00
Press L1-A to return to the boot prom

At this point the keyboard is inoperative, L1-A doesn't work.

ok boot cdrom
boot: expert

this gets farther. I get taken to the main menu (not language-chooser)
and the keyboard is again inoperative. I tried tab, <esc>, arrow keys,
<ctrl>p, <ctrl>n, etc, and L1-A. None of these keys produced a result.

I was unable to save any of the logs for these attempts, without a
keyboard it's quite difficult. Also, it's unclear to me if the machine
was running at all, it may have frozen.

I'm sorry but I have to confirm the main problem with:
http://kitenet.net/~joey/tmp/sunblade/3/mini.iso

After trying both:

ok boot cdrom
SILO 1.4.8
boot: <ret>

ok boot cdrom
boot: expert

the installer shows up, but the keyboard still doesn't work.
In the latter case the "Select a keyboard layout" menu item
is only two positions down, but I can't get to it.
It's like a catch #22 :-)

Wiktor Wandachowicz

PS.
Sorry for not sending a response sooner, but I had some problems
with installing a system on my new Athlon64 machine. Now it's ok.
Kernel 2.6.9 roxx :-D
