Install went smoothly. Kernel compile rougher. Need a "road map" where stuff 
goes when dpkg -i

is done on things like alsa-base, alsa-utils, etc.

Sound installation is very broken.

Install logs and other status info is available in /var/log/debian-installer/.

Linux 2.4.27 Kernel compilation- Config file attached.

NB! Removing symetric multi-processing causes many kernel compile errors.

RDTSC either got broke or has changed between 2.2 and 2.4. hfterm calibration 
program, reffreq, no longer works right.
