Bug#284996: Sarge installation fails at partitioning on laptop
Hi!
Acording to /var/log/partman you started the installation with clear
disk - without partition table (this is strange for a notebook).
Then you created the necessary partitions.
Then partman tried to write the partition table.
However the kernel says: "The kernel was unable to re-read the partition
table on /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc (Input/output error).
This means Linux won't know anything nothing about the modifications you
made until you reboot. You should reboot your computer before doing
anything with /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc."
Consequently the kernel can not find and use the new partitions.
I have heard about notebooks having some special, internaly used
partition on the disk that may not be removed. I don't know if this so
in your case.

Yes, it looks to me similar.
