See the forwarded mail from debian-ia64 for some details. I notice that rootskel has some code for powerpc to modprobe i8042 and atkbd on chrp|chrp_pegasos|prep. Seems we should do this for ia64 too, but I'm puzzled how that manages to get the modules loaded after these system reboot, since it does not register-module those modules. -- see shy jo
