Bug#253161: about your Debian installation report

begin  quote   Joey Hess <joey@kitenet.net> 2004-10-13 21:54:48 :

Tried again the other day. Here's the highlights:

* Installed M$-XPpro from scratch on newly-flattened HD, into
/dev/hda1 and /dev/hda5, just enough to be able to boot it.

* Used netinst (pre-RC2) from a CD; went for linux26 (for minimal
interaction).

* Partitioning: multi-user.

* Put grub in the MBR.

* Proceed to reboot: Bliss :-) . In particular, both XP and sarge
accessible by grub.

Apologies for the distinct lack of system info: the system in question
is the one I boot XP on to use this wretched alleged mailer, but using
a different /dev/hda with the aid of a removable-HD tray. In
retrospect, I should perhaps have given it the stricter test of using a
completely virgin HD. Do you wish me to retry and/or send the full info?

In the meantime, I think Bug 253161 can be (tenatively) Closed.

Many thanks, folks,
