Comments/Problems:

The whole install process went increbibly smoothly. Everything was a no-brainer and correctly detected. I opted for "Desktop System" when configuring packages, and it installed KDE and Gnome, whereas I only wanted Gnome. This resulted in a bigger download. I don't know if this is the default behaviour or if I skipped an option to make more specific choices about what to install.

After the install I did the following:
* upgraded to Sid
* made minor adjustments for monitor resolution and refresh rate
* installed Nvidia 3d drivers
* set up SCSI-emulation for CD and DVD burning. Very easy to figure out, but IMO could be part of the installation process.

Overall a very complete setup which (along with a few extra tweaks) left me with a fully working and very stable system.

All the best
