which leads me to
http://people.debian.org/~joeyh/d-i/images/pre-rc2/floppy/, correct?

if so, still no luck

during the hardware detection, I get these two errors
error while running 'modprove -v ide-detect'
error while running 'modprove -v ide-disk'

then in /var/log/messages, I get:
missing module 'ide-mod'
missing module 'ide-probe-mod'
missing module 'ide-detect'
missing module 'ide-generic'
missing module 'ide-floppy'
missing module 'ide-disk'
missing module 'ide-cd'
missing module 'isofs'

it still says that it can't find any partionable media, meanwhile I
have an install of Win98SE on the same machine
