Bug#269074: XFS root partition causes grub to segfault, lilo to fail

Package: debian-installer
version: unknown (sid-amd64-netinst.iso dated 06-Aug-2004)

When choosing to use XFS for the root partition (including /boot), grub
will segfault and the installer will indicate a fatal error, lilo will
also refuse to install a bootsector on the partition table or the root
partition itself.

Unfortunately I don't have the detailed error log from the installation,
however I was advised on #debian-boot to provide the bug report
nonetheless. No special disk hardware was used, and the install was to
/dev/hda on an nforce3 250 ide controller. This bug should be easily
reproduced.

Changing the root partition type to ext2/3 allowed grub to run
successfully.
