Comments/Problems:

I've been booting with "linux26" and it was not possible to get SATA
the Adaptec 1210SA working at all. It hang at the hardware detection at
84% (ide-disk). When removing the SATA cables and just letting the
controller (PCI card) in, it hang at 81% (ide-generic).

After installation on a standard IDE disk and booting with the controller
plugged in, I get about 3 "lost interrupt" messages, then it detects the
SATA HDD's size, etc afterwards a couple of more "lost interrupt" messages.

When booting with a self-compiled 2.6.8.1 kernel (from www.kernel.org) it
works flawlessly with NO problems at all, so I assume this is a
KERNEL problem.
