Bug#266013: Debian Installer RC 1 on SPARCstation IPX
I suspect that the kernel used on the sparc d-i images will not work
on sun4c/sun4d systems. The dropping of support for sun4c/sun4d was
discussed years ago, and there just does not seem to be anyone who has
both the ability and willingness to support them.
sun4c includes sparcstation 1 & 2, slc, elc, ipc, and ipx.
sun4d includes sparcserver 1000.
sun4m includes sparcestation 10, 20, classic, lx, 4, 5.
sun4u includes anything with ultra or blade in the name.
nettra machines that I know of are sun4m or sun4u.
As far as I know, all the success reports for d-i on sparc are sun4m
or sun4u.
I gave away my sun4c systems.
Sun4m systems are now at the "find someone to haul it off" stage.
(I've got several I should part with.)
I've seen working ultra 1 matchines go on ebay for $10 + $20 shipping
repeatadly. An ultra 2 or ultra 30 is probably worth the little extra
it would cost.

With Microsoft, failure is not an option. It is a standard feature.
