Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Initial boot worked: [O ]
Configure network HW: [O ]
Config network: [E ]
Detect CD: [O ]
Load installer modules: [O ]
Detect hard drives: [O ]
Partition hard drives: [O ]
Create file systems: [O ]
Mount partitions: [O ]
Install base system: [O ]
Install boot loader: [O ]
Reboot: [E ]

Comments/Problems:
On the reboot I received the following:
Configuring the base system ...
/usr/sbin/base-config: ./prep-menu: /bin/sh: bad interpreter: Permission denied
Configuring the base system ...
Configuring the base system ...
Configuring the base system ...
INIT: Id "1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

I was able to switch to another virtual terminal and navigate.

If I edited /etc/inittab I could get to a point where I could
reboot in to the OS. I had to change inittab to:

#1:2345:respawn:/usr/sbin/termwrap /usr/sbin/base-config new </dev/console >/dev/console 2>&1
1:12345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty1

Once in, I could manually configure the network and add user
accounts and everything else I needed to do.

This was my first Debian install, but not my first linux install. I
have since done another and used the 2.4 kernel and it installed
flawlessly. Except for this little glitch with the 2.6 kernel, I think
it installed very nice. Having the ability to install just a core OS
and following up with only the packages you need is crucial for system
security.

Thanks for the hard work your team has put in!
