Comments/Problems: I used the expert install as I wanted to see
everything that happened. The only issue I had was that I told the
installer at one point to not install the scsi drivers (as the m/b has
on board scsi, which is unused) but it kept on asking me if I wanted to
install the scsi drivers at various points along the way, which was a
little annoying. In the end I gave in and said to install, but now I
have a much longer reboot time while waiting for the scsi drivers to
timeout :-(

I found it to be an excellent, intuitive installation process that
worked extremely well. The auto-detection worked flawlessly (much better
than some other distro's I had tried on the same machine, namely
Mandrake and Gentoo). Ideally it would have detected it was running on
an SMP box and installed an SMP image, but that was easy to do after the
reboot via apt-get. Well done!

As an aside I am blown away by how efficient Debian is on that machine -
on some critical apps (Apache/Tomcat/Java) it is almost as fast as a
newish ASUS AMD2500+ 512MB box (running XP-Pro)!

Robert
