INSTALL REPORT

Debian-installer-version: 20040315 & 20040323 (gluck.debian.org)
uname -a: Linux (none) 2.4.25-1.386 #1 Tue Feb 24 08:11:13 EST 2004 i686=20
unknown
(for installer 200403015)
Date: 2004-03-24
Method: Booting from CD (netinst.iso)

Machine: PC compatible
Processor: Intel Pentium II 233 MHz
Memory: 192 MB

Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] =3D OK, [E] =3D Error (please elaborate below), [ ] =3D didn't try it

Initial boot worked: [O]
Configure network HW: [O]
Config network: [O]
Detect CD: [O]
Load installer modules: [E]
Detect hard drives: [ ]
Partition hard drives: [ ]
Create file systems: [ ]
Mount partitions: [ ]
Install base system: [ ]
Install boot loader: [ ]
Reboot: [ ]

Comments/Problems:

The installer (20040323) failed loading jfs-modules-2.4.25-1-386-di,
but this could be related to a simple reading error of the device.
The point is the appearing error message (something like):
"Load installer components from CD. Integrity check failed for
jfs-modules-2.4.25-1-386-di. Aborting."
And I have two choices, namely "Go Back" and "Continue". Choosing
"Go Back" brings me to the main menu, but "Continue" does exactly
the same, which I find very counter-intuitive. I would expect the
installer to skip that package and try to continue without it...
In fact the error messages read the same, when e.g. installing the
base system and one package fails. In my opinion there should be a
possibility to skip failing packages (or actions) as far as possible.
Or if this is not possible, at least remove that "Continue" button
which is not working as one would expect.

Regards,
Stefan

The UI issue was fixed, now if there is a read error from CD, you can
choose to retry it, or cancel.=20

We'd appreciate if you could try again with current images, and file a
new report.
