Yes; perhaps there is a better way to do that, but this seemed to make sense
to me.  This way, it can trivially be set as a boot parameter, and also via
debconf.  It's a lot like kbd-chooser's debian-installer/serial-console, so
I assumed this was a reasonable implementation.  Is it OK?
