Date: 2004-02-25 18:59u (CET)
Method: Downloaded bootfloppy, rootfloppy and netdriver disk.
Booted from them and tryed a network install (two nic's)

Machine: Compaq 4000
Processor: Intel 166MMX
Memory: 256MB
Root Device: ide-1 (/dev/hda)
Root Size/partition table: didn't get this far.
Output of lspci:

Initial boot worked: [O]
Configure network HW: [O]
Config network: [O]

Create file systems: [ ]
Mount partitions: [ ]
Install base system: [ ]
Install boot loader: [ ]
Reboot: [ ]
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Comments/Problems:
No CD in drive, detection of cd-drive failed, The machine has HardWare problems so this could
explain why the cd-drive was not detected.

When trying to install in Dutch (Nederlands, Netherlands) without cd I had terrible
difficulties to install a system (I tried to install an unstable distro).
The install procedure kept going back to the menu option to detect Debian-install-cd (I wanted
a network install). Which ever I did I always got an error message that no cd-drive was detected
and after that it returned back to the menu. It got too confusing to see what was
happening. It's not my first debian installation by a long shot, but this was the first
time I had to give up because of total confusion.

Greetings,
Pieter van der Eems
Netherlands
