I just downloaded and tested the netinstall image for i386 from http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimage-testing/sid_d-i/ and installed Debian. In any field, I did type '/' and any other "normal" characters without problem, while, if I use 'ò' or other "strange" chars then the input is blocked and you may only press TAB to select 'back' and then reenter the form.
