Comments/Problems:
The installer improperly set up device names for the DVD+/-RW device.
It correctly set up ide_scsi emulation for the drive, but did not set
up the device names right.  /dev/cdrom -> /dev/cdrom0 -> /dev/scd0.
But, /dev/scd0 is not where ide_scsi sets up my cdrom. /dev/sr0 is the right place.

The system hostname was not established properly. I named my machine
"office-linux", but instead it was named "localhost". I'm not actually
sure how to fix this. Simply changing /etc/hostname was not the right solution.

I'm processing old installation reports, and have, finally, gotten to
yours.

I'm closing your installation report, after determining that:
- The reported issues are fixed.
- Your report mentions some strange problems that seem unlikely to be
  present in current versions of the installer.

If you can, please try installing again using a current version of the
debian installer. I recommend the tc1 release, which you can find on our
web page, <http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/>. If you can, try
to reproduce the problems you reported using it, so we can verify that
they're all fixed. We look forward to your new installation report.
