I note that Kenshi made the change to iso01.f16 in base-config r1030
with the commit message:

Fix broken display with kernel 2.6 in C or ISO-8859-1 encoding. I think
i386 is OK, but other arch needs to test

I thought the issue this change was supposed to fix was broken line drawing
characters with the 2.6 kernel. So it's weird if it broke 2.4, do we need
to do different things for 2.4 and 2.6?

Consider this a feature if you like, but it has ramificatons beyond
borders of dialog boxes. Take a look at tasksel for instance. Or
mutt.
