Package: debian-installer
Version: 20031109

I recently installed the current testing-1 which comes with the new
debian-installer. At the very beginning of the installation process I've
got asked for the language.

I did not really know if this question was about

- the keyboard layout to be used
- the messages of the installer itself
- a locale setting for the whole new system

The background is that I like german keyboard (de-latin1-nodeadkeys), but
I like otherwise the english language throughtout the system, sometimes
the german terms sound really silly and it's also not that good to post
german error messages to international mailing lists.

I was not able to find out how to do this throught the installer.

close 215205
thanks

248929: was about the "new" layout...which was reverted and now back
again, with the default correctly to English. I close this way as I am
the reporter

242557, 242556, 242555: the new layout makes this BR irrelevant

236257: less likely to happen with the new layout (no more "choose
this..."). Anyway, no simple solution for fixing it

220705: should be far more evident that the question is a *language*
question and has nothing to do "country-related". Anyway,
making the question simple is intentional-->we don't want to
clutter people with too much information. Explaining the
consequences of the language choice pertains to the install manual

215205: fixed for a while now, either with "old" or "new" layout

243705: this was the major goal of the "new" layout..:-)
